Tourist attractions Neustadt an der Weinstraße

The ruined fortress has been famous since the demonstration by patriots in 1832, when the black, red and gold flag was raised for the first time. In 1919, and again in 1949, it was chosen to be the German national emblem.

The 673m-high Kalmit, the highest point in the Palatinate, is popular with hikers. From the terrace of the Kalmithaus, there is a panoramic view over the Rhine plain and the cathedral of Speyer.

This spa resort enjoys a mild climate in which fig, almond and chestnut trees grow in the lovely park. To the west, visit the remains of Limburg abbey and admire the views of the Isenach valley and the Hardenburg ruins in the Rhine plain.
