TOURISM
This awe-inspiring contemporary Catholic chapel was completed in 1956 (Anshen & Allen), the brainchild of local artist and rancher Marguerite Brunswig Staude. Characterized by its cruciform shape, the concrete aggregate-and-glass chapel rises 90ft from the base of a red-rock butte. Views from the stark interior of the "spiritual fortress," as Staude called it, look south to Courthouse Butte and Bell Rock. The building of the church itself is called a "physical miracle" by some, given the landscape.
