Judah L. Magnes Museum star : The Michelin guide review

Set amid shaded grounds landscaped by John McLaren of Golden Gate Park fame, an imposing mansion (1908) houses the nation's third-largest museum of Jewish history and art. Named for a prominent San Francisco rabbi, the museum sponsors changing exhibits (main level) highlighting Jewish history and the works of 19C and 20C Jewish artists and photographers. Galleries on the upper level are reserved for rotating exhibits of ceremonial and cultural items from the museum collections, including Hanukkah lamps, amulets, Bibles, Torah pointers, wedding robes, Torah cases and arks, and Sephardic artifacts from around the world.
