Between Carmelites Road running along the Ujed and the Vtlava, this part of Mala Strana seems more romantic: perhaps it's the nearby waters. The palaces are less arrogant here, the gardens more natural, and the squares less stuffed with monuments. Certain churches in this area, such as the former Lutheran Church of Our Lady of Victory, or the Church of St John of the Wash House, have had a curious history.
