Peñíscola
: The Michelin guide review
This rocky peninsula (the name comes from the Latin word “peninsula”) is characterised by whitewashed houses nestled inside its town walls. The imposing fortress was the last refuge of antipope Benoît XIII, Pedro de la Luna (1394-1423). Long beaches extend around the town, skirting a modern resort with a number of apartment blocks. In the late afternoon, activity is centred on the fishing port, located at the foot of the old town.
