Oviedo
: The Michelin guide review
This small city founded on the hill of Ovietum by Fruela 1 (722-68) is now the economic and cultural capital of the Asturias region. Oviedo is a modern, relaxed town, thanks in part to its large central park. It has preserved several vestiges from the time when Alfonso II (791-842) made it the capital of the kingdom of Asturias, especially in the old town, which is particularly delightful and can be reached by heading towards the spire of the Gothic cathedral.
