Santa Maria del Mar church : The Michelin guide review

Built in the 14C with unusual speed for a building of such large proportions, this marvellous church was the result of a popular initiative, and soon became the spiritual centre of the district. Its three façades are highly representative of Catalan Gothic architecture: the predominance of horizontal lines, solid buttresses, a large number of bare surfaces, and octagonal pillars. The Binterior, demonstrates two key features of Catalan Gothic: a simplicity of shape and a sense of space.
