This museum contains ten centuries of Catalan art from the Romanesque period to the modern day. Housing the art museum, department of drawings and prints, museum of modern art, the numismatic cabinet of Catalonia and an art history library, it is now the largest museum in the region. Its collection of Romanesque art is spectacular, in particular the Batlló Majesty. The collection of Gothic art includes exhibits by Barcelona’s most important artists, such as the Virgin of the Councillors by Luis Dalmau, and works by the Master of La Seu d'Urgell.
