Housed in a fine building designed by Josep Lluís Sert (1902-83), the Joan Miró Foundation contains over 10 000 works by the artist, who is one of the great names of the 20C avant-garde movement in Europe. The remarkable Barcelona Series, comprising 50 black and white lithographs retracing the key moments of the Spanish Civil War, is a particular highlight. Sculptures, drawings, paintings and graphic art bear witness to Miró’s immense talent.
