Royal Alcazar : Gothic Palace or Charles V’s Apartments : The Michelin guide review

The palace is accessed through a Baroque portico at the end of the courtyard. Built by Alfonso X, it was altered in the 18C with the addition of the Great Hall (fine tapestries from the Royal factory in Madrid illustrating the conquest of Tuins in 1535). The 13C Vaulted Hall is the oldest part of the palace and retains its original appearance; it was here that the marriage contract between Charles V and Isabella of Portugal was signed.
