TOURISM
The Chapel Royal opens through an enormous arch. It is covered by an elegant, richly ornamented Renaissance dome of carved coffers. On either side are the tombs of Alfonso X of Castille and his mother Beatrice of Swabia. At the centre of the high altar is the robed figure of the Virgen de los Reyes, patron of Seville, given, according to legend, by St Louis of France to his cousin St Ferdinand of Spain. The latter is buried in a silver gilt shrine below the altar. The chapel screen dates from 1771.
