Algeciras : The Michelin guide review
Algeciras has always been one of the most important ports on the Iberian peninsula and enjoyed its greatest period of splendour under Moorish rule. In the 18C, it counterbalanced British domination in the straits and in 1906 European forces carved up their spheres of influence in Morocco. Today, Algeciras is the major passenger port in Spain. Although it lacks any monuments of note, it is a pleasant town with a lively atmosphere.
