Alarcón star : The Michelin guide review

Alarcón, whose name means “Alaric's town”, was founded by the son of this Visigothic king. It was recaptured from the Moors by Alfonso VIII in 1184. This stronghold was entrusted to the Order of the Knights of St James, then belonged to the infant Don Juan Manuel (1284-1348), who wrote part of his literary work here. In the 15C, it was the scene of bloody battles between its lord, the Marquis of Villena, and the Catholic Monarchs, who sought to put an end to feudal power.
