Uppsala : The Michelin guide review

Uppsala is Sweden’s ecclesiastical capital and an intellectual centre boasting Scandinavia’s oldest university. The cathedral, university and castle overlook the west bank of the River Fyris (Fyrisån), while the east bank is home to a modern business district. Thanks to a large student population, the town is very lively, especially on 30 April (Sista April) when the arrival of spring is celebrated. Uppsala is also the birthplace of Ingmar Bergman and the backdrop of his film Fanny and Alexander.
