Sweden’s foremost fine art museum has since 1866 been sited in this Italian Renaissance-style building. Its important artworks cover the period from the early Renaissance to the 20C. It includes the finest collection anywhere of Swedish paintings, works from other Nordic countries, and decorative arts from the 1930s to the end of the 20C. Carl Gustav Tessin was the patron behind the collection of 18C French paintings – the pride of the museum.
