Situated 80km west of Oslo in the heart of mountains, Kongsberg lies on the two banks of the Lågen which descends the Numedal southwards. Kongsberg has two centres linked by a bridge: the modern town on the west side (Vest) and the old town east of the river, where most of the places of interest are located, such as an 18C church, the Norwegian Mining Museum and Konsgberg Skiing Museum.
