Selsø Castle star : The Michelin guide review

The castle stands in an isolated area overlooking the fjord. The 16C building underwent major works in the 18C and is a typical example of Danish Baroque architecture. The inside has been carefully restored to recover its 18C splendour of marble panels, stucco ceilings, huge mirrors and paintings by Henrik Krock, official painter at the time. The vault of the cellar and kitchens is all that remains from the Renaissance period. Look out for the dungeon beneath the monumental gate and a large medieval well in the courtyard.
