The neighbourhood of Christiania, a self-governed and ecologically-minded haven of alternative living, is the second most visited tourist attraction in Copenhagen. The residents themselves describe this creative district as a sort of hippy museum. The main entrance is on Prinsessegade and leads onto Pusherstreet. Essentially a succession of mini-districts, Christiania's charm lies in the details: patched-up shacks, run-down huts and houses designed by environment-conscious architects form a labyrinth that lies somewhere between rustic idyll and bohemian realm.
