Timisoara (Temeswar/Temesvár) star star : The Michelin guide review

The capital of the Banat region is associated with the fall of communism; it was here that the revolution began in 1989. Nicknamed “Little Vienna”, Timisoara’s well-restored historic centre blends Baroque and Secessionist styles. Over the Trajan bridge, the belfry of the Orthodox cathedral dominates Victory Square. Liberty Square and Union Square have monuments to St John Nepomuk (1756) and the Holy Trinity, a Baroque plague column, plus St George’s cathedral, Romania’s finest Baroque building.
