Stretched out at the bottom of its natural bay, Portimão is a lively port, where, from the bridge linking Arade to the back of the bay, you will have the best view at high tide. An important port for both fishing and trade, this is also an industrial town, specialising in ship-building and canning tuna and sardines. The town's famous beach is the resort of Praia da Rocha.
