Rossio : The Michelin guide review

Praça Dom Pedro IV, was once the setting for many autodafés during the Inquisition. Its present appearance is the work of Pombal: lined by 18 and 19C buildings, it is now occupied by cafés and small shops that have kept their original decoration, such as the Nicola with its Art deco façade or the tobacconists with azulejos by Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro. The statue of Dom Pedro IV stands in the centre of the square, overlooking the busy flower market set up among the baroque fountains.
