Palácio da Ajuda star : The Michelin guide review

The 18/19C residence of the monarchs Louis and Maria Pia from 1862 onwards, this palace contains a profusion of 19C furniture, tapestries, statues, paintings and decorative objects. Note the ceiling in the Winter Garden, with its covering of chalcedonic agate. The vast, ceremonious rooms on the first floor contrast with the more intimate rooms such as the queen's bedroom where the many personal objects give a more lived-in feel.
