Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga : The Michelin guide review

The museum occupies the 17C palace of the counts of Alvor at the foot of Lapa Hill. The displays of paintings, sculptures and decorative arts from the 12C to the early 19C all reflect the history of Portugal, in that they are all by Portuguese artists or painters who lived in Portugal or had connections with the country. Note Bosch’s Temptaion of St Anthony, the portraits of the Twelve Apostles, the Japanese screens, and of course the Adoration of St Vincent by Nuno Gonçalves.
