The Faras Gallery is remarkable for its 120 frescoes removed from Faras in the Sudan (saved from destruction by flooding when the Aswan Dam was constructed). After seeing the fine Gothic reredoses in the Medieval Art Gallery, the Polish Art Gallery is a must for its huge canvas by Jan Matejko, The Battle of Grunwald (1878), depicting the defeat of the Teutonic Knights by the Polish army.
