Economic heart of the New Town, the Market Square is today ornamented in the centre with a well overlooked by a virgin and unicorn. It has three important churches: to the East, the white church of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, baroque style in the form of a Greek cross; to the North, the red church of the Visitation (built in brick in the 15th C.), with a separate belfry topped by a gabled roof added in 1581; to the West, the Franciscan church (and its 18th C. altars).
