This truly beautiful baroque style church was the work of the Dutch architect Tylman van Gameren. In the form of a Greek cross, capped by a lantern dome on an octagonal drum, it was offered to the town by Queen Marie Casimire at the end of the 17th C., in memory of the victory by Jan III Sobieski over the Turkish armies at the battle of Vienna in 1683. Its white walls housed a hospital during the Second World War, notably at the time of the uprising in 1944.
