The Gothic cathedral dedicated to St Stanislas and St Wenceslas contains many works of art, including St Stanislas' mausoleum (1629 and King Wladyslaw II Jagiello's Tomb, in red marble. Italian artists created the finest example of Renaissance architecture in Poland, the Sigismund Chapel. The Holy Cross Chapel is embellished by paintings created by artists from the Pskow School (Russia, 1470). Kings, national heroes and poets are honoured in the crypts alongside the royal tombs. The Sigismund Tower provides an excellent view of the city.
