TOURISM
The castle was built in the Renaissance style by two Florentine architects for King Sigismund I. On the ground floor, the Gothic-style rooms include the crown jewels (sword of state takes pride of place). On the first floor, there is a collection of 16C-17C portraits. On the second floor, the luxurious royal apartments are hung with Flemish tapestries, as are the castle’s main attraction, the state apartments; don’t miss the Hall of Deputies, its ceiling decorated with carved wooden heads.
