This Renaissance church was built in 1631 byPieter de Keyser, who followed plans drawn up by his brother Hendrick. Restoration work carried out between 1985 and 90 has returned the stone and brickwork to their original colours. This is the most important place of protestant worship in the city. Rembrandt is buried here. The bell-tower is 85 m tall and has a peal of 50 bells, the work of the Hémony brothers. The lofty interior is worth a visit.
