Tour de la Monnaie : The Michelin guide review

Built between 1480 and1490, Munttoren was the first tower of the Mint, a remnant of the "Regulars' gate". As its name shows, coins were minted there between 1672 and 1673, during the war against France. The baroque steeple that has crowned the tower since 1620 was built by Hendrick de Keyser. The peal of bells, added in 1699, is the work of the famous bell-maker François Hémony of Lorraine, who had opened a workshop with his brother Pierre on Keizersgracht.
