Access to this museum is through Agnietenpoort (St Agnes' gate), into the chapel that was once home to the famous "Illustrious Athenaeum" college (founded in 1632), which was later to become a university. The chapel and the neighbouring buildings are still used by the current University of Amsterdam. The building is frequently used as a venue for temporary exhibitions.
