The town of Kotor is a UNESCO World Heritage Site squeezed between the sea and steep cliffs. Don’t miss its spectacular 4-km long chain of ramparts built from the 9C onwards and improved until the 19C. A never-ending flight of irregular steps takes you up to St Ivan’s Fortress, sitting 250m above Kotor. The walled town is criss-crossed by a maze of narrow streets and small cobbled squares. Visit St Tryphon cathedral (1166), with its Baroque façade and traces of 14C frescoes.
