This Venetian, Byzantine-style “fondaco” (warehouse) is a veritable latticework of archways. It served as a store for Turkish merchants, and is today the Natural History Museum. Visitors probably don’t come to Venice to discover protozoan life forms, insects, molluscs and dinosaurs... but if this were the case, or if one were suddenly to become curious about echinoderms during a romantic gondola ride, it’s worth knowing that this museum is quite remarkable!
