The dome was built in the 11C and 12C, then reworked at various periods. It currently has a Baroque façade. The interior is divided into three aisles, separated by ancient columns with Roman or Byzantine capitals. The ceiling dates from the 17C, and the chapel of San Cataldo was re-faced with multicoloured marble and decorated with statues in the 18C.
