House of Livia star : The Michelin guide review

Near the Farnese Gardens, the House of Livia is a residence which archaeologists attribute to the wife of Augustus, on account of inscriptions on lead piping in the tablinium (“IVLIÆ AV”). It was probably also the emperor’s home. The ruins give a clear picture of the original layout: access corridor, covered atrium, tablinium (reception hall) flanked by two little retiring rooms, and (to the left of the atrium) the triclinium (dining room). Good vestiges of wall paintings.
