Church of Santa Maria Vittoria : The Michelin guide review

Built by Carlo Maderno, the same architect who constructed the church of Santa Susanna, although this is a little later and so reflects the advent of the Counter-Reformation. The interior is richly Baroque with trompe l’oeil frescoes (vaulting and dome), polychrome marble (walls) and gilding (stuccowork). The Cornaro Chapel has Bernini’s Ecstasy of St Theresa of Avila (1646).
