Duomo (Dome) : The Michelin guide review

The Romanesque-Lombard style Dome is flanked by an elegant Gothic belltower. In front of the facade is an attractive Lombard porch resting on lions and topped by a loggia. Inside there are frescoes on the dome on the subject of the Assumption of the Virgin by Correggio (1526-1530): a vertiginous experience! In the right transept, the Descent from the Cross by the Roman sculptor Antelami shows traces of the influence of Provence.
