Several rooms of the National Archaeological Museum are devoted to this villa discovered in Herculanum in the 18C. The Papyrus Room (no 114) contains photographs of some of the 800 papyruses that were housed in the library. The bronze statues that adorned the peristyle of the villa are exhibited in Room 116, including the Drunken Silenus and a young Sleeping Satyr; the two Athletes, inspired by Lysippe (4C BC); the famous Dancers of Herculanum and Resting Hermes.
