Synagogues : The Michelin guide review

These three well-hidden synagogues (Fano temple, Italian temple and German temple) sharing the same building but representing separate rites were gifted to the large Jewish community (which the Este family had welcomed) by Roman banker Ser Samuel Mele... They are located in the centre of the old ghetto which was instituted by the papal government in 1624. It was only fairly recently, in 1859 that the new Italian Kingdom saw fit to pull down its doors.
