Along with Collins Barracks, this forms the setting for the collections of the National Museum and focuses on archaeological and Celtic items, including the remarkable Treasury, gathering together items from the Bronze Age to the 15C: the miniature gold boat from the Broighter Hoard (1C AD), the Ardagh chalice (8C), the Tara brooch (8C), the reliquary of St Patrick’s bell (c 1100), the “Cathach” reliquary of St Columba’s psalter (12C-15C), plus the leather and ivory Kavanagh Charter horn.
