Church of the Conception of the Virgin Mary : The Michelin guide review

The Catholic Church of the Conception of the Virgin Mary, which is in the style of a Greek temple with a Doric portico and cupola, was completed in 1821. The rank of cathedral was granted in the 12C to Christ Church, and it has been known as the Pro-Cathedral since the late 19C («pro» meaning provisional). Its choir, the Palestrina Choir, founded in 1902 by Edward Martyn, had John McCormack as one of its first members.
