At the heart of Belfast, this square’s gardens are dotted with statues; note Queen Victoria, surrounded by allegorical representations of the textile industry and shipbuilding (see the memorial to the Titanic, built here in Belfast). To the south is Yorkshire House, decorated with busts of famous men, gods and goddesses; to the west are offices (1899-1902) by local architects Young and Mackenzie for Scottish Provident; and finally to the north the Linen Warehouse (1869) and Linen Hall Library (1788).
