The literal translation of hé-víz is “hot water” and by extension “thermal water”. This small town’s main sight of interest is its hot-water lake that has recognised therapeutic properties and attracts an impressive number of spa patients. Hévíz was developed during the two world wars, but really took off from 1970 onwards with the construction of numerous hotels, most of which offer every kind of spa treatment, as well as dental and eye care!
