Harkány is a famous spa resort. The water that gushes out of the ground here at 60 to 62°C contains fluoride and sulphur, with the tell-tale smell as a reminder. Its mud baths act as an effective treatment for rheumatism, articular diseases and some gynaecological conditions. Nearly all the hotels for tourists and spa patients are located on Bajcsy-Zsilinszky street opposite the main entrance to the baths. Restaurants, cafés and patisseries line Kossuth Lajos utca (as in all spa towns!).
