Main square : The Michelin guide review

Dobó István tér is the town's main square. In its centre stands a statue of a local and national hero, István Dobó, who defended the city and vanquished the Turks in 1552. The square is also home to the Church of Miner Brothers (Minorita templom). The high altar of this fine example of Baroque art is decorated with a work by Johann Kracker (1719-1779). Next-door to the church, the house of the Miner Brothers features an exhibition devoted to the popular arts of the páloc people.
