Temple Newsam is a brick house that forms three sides of a court. It was built in the late 15C and altered in the 17C. An inscription from this latter period runs round the balustrade. Inside is an outstanding collection of very well-presented decorative arts. There are also some Old Master paintings. The park is composed of a variety of gardens.
