Cuisine British modern

Menu: 40£/ 65£ A particularly interesting wine list

Long-standing, family-run restaurant in an old Victorian vicarage just outside the city. Traditional, homely lounge. Two dining rooms - one a wood-floored, bay-windowed room, the other, an airy conservatory. Refined, classical cooking uses sophisticated techniques and top quality ingredients. Formal service.

I have to agree with the previous comments and found on arrival a beautifull and tranquil atmosphere. Walking through the door was like walking into your own home and felt very comfortable, we were welcomed by a very polite gentleman and our coats were taken and we were shown to the reception rooms. After we had some time to settle we ordered wine and our meal but at no time did we feel nor were we rushed, the service and friendly atmosphere were beyond expectations even when we had finished our meal we were at no time rushed to leave the table. I wouls certainly recommend to friends and will return again. I enjoy good tasting food and this was certainly delivered, who cares if the staff clear your plates away early. Surly its about the food and the taste not how it is served. Thankyou to the staff and the Chef, we enjoyed the evening very much.

From start to finish this was one of the most enjoyable eating out experiences me my wife an the two friends we went with have ever had. On entering the restaurant we were meet by a very polite gentleman and made to feel right at home and welcome, we were never rushed nor pushed along or out in any way what so ever, the atmosphere was calm and relaxing, every member of staff was polite, helpful and knew exactly what they were doing. After our meal we were even introduced to one of the directors/owners who again was very polite, chatty and interested in the experience we'd had. I really can't say enough about the restaurant or the staff that work there and assume the other two reviews on here must be about a different restaurant because our whole experience could not have be further away from either. I will recommend this restaurant to friends and the four of us will definitely be returning! Excellent!
