Wells star star : The Michelin guide review

Like most English cathedrals, Wells Cathedral was built out of town somewhat. The calm in and around the cathedral contrasts with the bustle of the town’s Market Square in what is England's smallest cathedral city. Together with other Mendip towns, Wells was a wool trade centre in the Middle Ages, a history explained in the Museum in Chancellor's House. Another reason to visit Wells is to see the ruined abbey of Glastonbury, in its time as prestigious as Westminster’s.
