Travel guide Hamilton
Hamilton : The Michelin guide review
Home to the powerful Hamilton family, premier dukes of Scotland, this town changed its name from Cadzow to Hamilton in the 15C and became a royal burgh a century later (in 1548). In the late 18C and early 19C, the town grew quickly as a mining centre, after Lanarkshire’s coal seams were found and started to be worked. Today, Hamilton is a busy commercial and administrative centre.
