Away from the bustle of the main road, the remains of the cathedral benefit from a pleasant and peaceful setting. Under the fine vaults of the southern lower side stands the damaged tomb of the founder, Euphemia, countess of Ross and widow of Alexander Stewart, "Wolf of Badenoch". An isolated two-storey building may have been used as a sacristy and capitulary room.
